May 31 - June 10

Important Dates:

June 3 - signed field trip form and money for luncheon on 6/7 is due today (if you are participating)
June 7 - award ceremony 10 - 11; luncheon in classroom 11 - 11:45; bowling 12 - 2
June 10 - last day of school; noon dismissal

During the last 2 weeks of school, in math we will be working on the multiplication algorithm and completing our dream house projects.  In science students are working on a Space Project.  They are choosing from three topics in chapter 2, creating a labeled diagram, and writing a paper explaining the relationship they chose.  Next week students will work on designing a brochure for next years' fourth graders.  They will pick 1 topic they really enjoyed learning about this year, their favorite part of 4th grade learning in either math or science.  They will design a front cover for the brochure, 3 information panels, and a back cover.

Tuesday - Algebraic Expressions *draw moon
Wednesday - Science Chapter 2 Lesson 2 Questions *draw moon

Friday - Have a nice weekend *draw moon - including Saturday and Sunday

In math this week students will be learning how to write and translate algebraic expressions.

In science we will begin chapter 2.  We will be starting with moon phases, then constellations.  Students will be bringing home a moon phases sheet to draw the moon on nightly. The moon phases sheet is due May 26 and will be a project grade.

In math this week, we will continue working on our step up to 5th grade topics of exponents, order of operations, and adding and subtracting decimals to the thousandths.  We will also begin adding and subtracting fractions without common denominators.

In science we will continue working from chapter 3.  This week we will be learning about renewable and nonrenewable resources.  The chapter 3 test will be next Thursday.  Visual glossary is due the day of the test.
